Established in 2007, Durrat Al Khaleej is one of Iraq’s leading bottled water producers. To comply with national and international regulations and standards, stay at the forefront of innovation and sustainability and provide a superior consumer experience, the company needed to upgrade its production technology.
To optimise bottle design as well as line performance, Durrat Al Khaleej chose Sidel for its expertise in packaging solutions. The close working relationship between our team and the customer also played a crucial role in developing a new PET bottle design and managing equipment installation and commissioning , as the site for the line was a greenfield project. Sidel’s packaging experts met the customer’s expectations by combining a lightweight solution with an original premium look.
The lightweight PET 500 ml bottle format, weighing only 10.5 grams, is extremely stable and has been very successful on the market. Our complete water line also proved to be the perfect solution, considering its sustainability, production speed of 24,000 bottles per hour (bph) and low total cost of ownership (TCO). This solution enabled the customer to save water on bottle cleaning, too, and eliminate air conveyors.
Installation and commissioning were very successful, achieving 98.1% line efficiency during the customer acceptance validation (CAV). And, thanks to Sidel’s great teamwork, the entire project took less than 9 months from kick-off to the first sellable bottle.
"Sidel provided extra support well beyond the scope of delivering the equipment to Europe, by choosing trusted shipping companies and recommending approved experts for installation and commissioning of the line in Iraq. The entire logistic flow was thus well planned and smoothly implemented."
